Executive Director - Equity Applied Research - MSCI Inc. - Hong Kong

POSITION OVERVIEW:
MSCI is looking for an exceptional candidate to join the APAC Equity Applied Research group. The position will be based in Hong Kong and report to the regional Head of Research.

Equity Applied Research is a client-centric research group in MSCI with a broad mandate to write and speak with clients about global indexing trend, asset allocation and portfolio construction issues. The group utilizes a variety of MSCI analytical tools and products including (MSCI Indexes and analytics risk models) to offer original research insights through research publications and speaking engagements at conferences, seminars and client / prospect meetings.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a member of a global team, the successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:

Lead hands-on research, both as an individual and as a member of the team, on the use of MSCI index products, analytics tools and data in the investment process;

Work within a global team on solving investment problems from clients around the world

Represents and Act as an ambassador for MSCI research

Assist the Head of Research in formulating and implementing research agenda including new product development and applied research efforts in Asia

Depending on the experience of the individual, he/she may also have management responsibilities of a small team

Desired Skills and Experience
DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate (PhD strongly preferred) degree in Finance, Financial Engineering, economics or related field. CFA is a plus

Relevant professional experience in the Investment Management industry, preferably in a client facing research role.

Knowledge of portfolio management, risk management or portfolio construction processes is essential.

Strong statistical skills (e.g., time series and cross-sectional analysis, R and S+, matlab, SQL) and familiarity with risk modelling tools (Barra)

Excellent presentation skills and experience in writing research reports are vital

Ability to conduct effective research conversation at the C- level

Proficiency in Chinese language is a must
