Director - Design - Christie's - Hong Kong


Job description
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the vision delineated by the Creative Director on matters related to creative development and execution.
Partner with the International Creative Director, Copy and Account Management teams to help unfold design processes from inception of projects through final implementation.
Attend briefing meetings along with account managers and copywriters to ensure a creative input is given during initial phase and relevant information is properly passed onto designers in subsequent sessions.

• Support the successful development of multi-disciplinary creative projects. The Design Director will have extensive experience in at least two of the following disciplines: print, exhibition and / or digital design.
Provide art direction and objective critique for the work developed by designers within Christie’s Creative Studios.
Hands-on design whenever necessary to support development of projects and final implementation.
Present creative work to key internal clients.
Support the International Creative Director on job allocation keeping in mind workflow, design specialties and individual strengths as relevant to each project.
Work closely with key external partners to ensure design projects developed jointly fulfill requirements and are appropriate for Christie’s.
Help strengthen Christie’s brand by ensuring design campaigns are consistent in their execution and are relevant in light of business and communication objectives set for projects.
Help develop and foster talent across the design disciplines established in the studio.



QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate degree in design is required.
Creative thinker with the ability to develop innovative ideas through words, pictures, motion and sound but is equally competent at strategic thinking.
Expert at the fundamentals of communication design and marketing.
Accomplished senior designer with solid and proven cross-disciplinary design experience.
Hands-on experience developing mid to large design projects is necessary.
Ability and willingness to take direction, as well as willingness and desire to act as a team player are not only necessary but also essential to succeed as part of the creative studios at Christie’s.
Proven experience directing creative projects and designers.
Experience presenting creative projects to key team members.
Knowledge and keen interest on art and design are required.
Demonstrable experience working with iconic, luxury and / or culturally relevant brands is ideal.
Interest and awareness of world-changing leaps in technology is desired.
Advanced skills on all the required design software as applied to at least two of the three disciplines practiced in the studio (print, exhibition, digital) are required.
Outstanding organizational skills and ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously without compromising quality of creative output are necessary.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills are required.
Candidate must be fully bilingual. Fluent in English and Chinese ( both oral and written)
