Director - Standards of Practice - CFA Institute - Hong Kong


Job description
The Director, Standards of Practice, will develop and promote ethical codes, standards, policies, and positions in the Asia-Pacific region. The Director will be proficient and thoroughly understand ethical issues affecting the investment industry and the principles and requirements of CFA Institute codes and standards, with particular emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of
Professional Conduct (Code and Standards) and the Asset Manager Code of Professional Conduct (AMC). The Director will develop relationships with asset owners, asset managers, regulators, consultants, industry associations, employers, societies, and volunteers in the region aimed at increasing adoption of CFA Institute standards with a particular emphasis on the AMC. The Director will represent CFA Institute at industry events, conduct ethics education seminars and webinars, and develop thought leadership projects on ethics that reflect the Asia Pacific (APAC) market to advance CFA Institute ethics, standards, policies, and positions. The position will be headquartered in Hong Kong and will be supported by the Director, Standards of Practice Development & Education and the Head, Standards & Financial Market Integrity Asia-Pacific.



Desired Skills and Experience
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree and/or CFA Charter
CFA charter strongly preferred
Minimum of ten years of experience, fifteen years preferred, in one or more of the following areas; asset management, securities research, compliance, regulations, sales and marketing of financial products, investment consulting, and private banking
Significant experience in investment industry in a multinational environment preferred
Fluency in English required, knowledge of additional Asian languages, particularly Mandarin, would be useful.
Must demonstrate outstanding stewardship and relationship building/management skills to expand the mission of CFA Institute
Knowledge and experience of financial markets and issues, ideally within the Asia-Pacific region
Knowledge of CFA Institute Professional Standards (GIPS, AMC) a plus.
Ability and willingness to become proficient in CFA Institute Professional Standards and Ethics and to help others in understanding and applying CFA Institute Professional Standards
Global cultural orientation and working experience
Excellent interpersonal skills including a professional and diplomatic demeanor
Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, listening, and public speaking
Ability to work independently with excellent entrepreneurial skills
Ability to create new and unique ideas
Proficient using standard office software such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
Experience in project management, with skills necessary to interpret what is needed for the success of a project and to create appropriate schedules for timely delivery
Very high level of organizational and time management skills
Flexibility in competently juggling competing priorities and changing expectations
Must demonstrate outstanding judgment and mature business skills with the ability to establish a strong rapport with senior management
Excellent consulting, problem solving, and analytical skills
Ability to meet the objectives and goals of the global Professional Standards team while fulfilling the needs and expectations for a Standards and Financial Market Integrity (SFMI) division’s staff in the APAC office
