Director - Footwear Sourcing & Profitability Management - adidas Group - Hong Kong


Job description
Purpose: Strive for improvement of end-to-end profitability performance for the Footwear Division through active leadership of the budget & forecast process and partnership on key Footwear initiatives from development to implementation. Drive for understanding of the cross-divisional macroeconomic environment through buffer management and quarterly reporting. Partner with the business to understand the impact and dependencies of core cost drivers, enabling best practice sharing and fact-based decision making.


Key Responsibilities
Actively communicate and implement GFF Sourcing & Profitability Management direction and strategy for the Footwear Sourcing organization
Align with and provide regular updates for senior management on the key strategic initiatives’ roadmaps and implementation status. Drive the creation of KPIs, and value capture methodology for Footwear Sourcing initiatives.
Take cross-divisional ownership with regards to financial, costing and economical global trends knowledge in particular for all key profitability drivers like wages, currencies and manufacturing environment focusing in adidas group current and potential production countries.
Manage the process to provide seasonal FOB reports, product creation buffer communication, and quarterly macroeconomic trends report (MBI).
Provide strategic and operational expertise on Footwear perspectives within the initiatives ensuring that implementation proposals are appropriate for the division-specific needs. Identify, analyze and present impact of alternative approaches.
Partner with the Footwear division to analyze the impact and dependencies of core cost drivers.
Manage business case development of Footwear Sourcing projects and investments by challenging, identifying and quantifying improvement potential; cascading business cases into project budgets including project budget controlling support and business case target follow-up (full project life-cycle support);
Ensure transparency on cost and cost drivers of Footwear Sourcing through cost management (OPEX, COGS, CAPEX) of the assigned budget by supervising budget process and forecast, reporting actual costs, explaining cost deviations, and identifying savings potential
Identify workload drivers and work with the Operational Analytics Team to prepare workload analysis for Footwear to support the business in resource allocation.
Ensure that potential financial risks are reflected in the aSL and Sourcing P&L by making appropriate provisions; guarantee that administration related policies (e.g. T&E Policy) and SOPs are implemented and followed; conduct audits of the administration area in the Liaison Offices/Operations Centers and advise on process improvements
Lead and inspire a team of four – one Senior Business Analyst, Footwear, one Project Manager, Profitability Management, and two Senior Business Analysts, Profitability Management.

Knowledge Skills And Abilities
High level of business acumen, commercial sense and analytic approach
Deep understanding and management experience in Sourcing / supply chain and/or product development with high degree of involvement in product / materials cost management a must
Proven project management skills within large scale change initiatives required.
Good understanding of performance management methods and improvement tools such as Balanced Scorecard, SixSigma, Activity-Based-Costing et al.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and in writing
Excellent influencing and interpersonal skills to interact effectively and efficiently across different layers of the organization
Enjoy working in a dynamic and ambitious multinational team
Action oriented, solution minded, analytical abilities, strong team player
High degree of self-management and drive
Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time
Strong result orientation and pro-activity
Ability to accept and meet critical deadlines with good planning and organization skills
Advanced user skills in SAP-CO/PA, Business Intelligence (SAP BW, IBM Cognos et al.)
Advanced MS Office skills, especially MS Excel
Fluent in English (written and spoken)

Requisite Education And Experience / Minimum Qualifications
MBA or Graduate degree in Economics or Finance strongly preferred
Min. of a four year-degree from an accredited college or university with emphasis on the areas of finance, economics, business, supply chain, or operations
Sourcing experience within at least one of operations / supply chain /product development –with involvement in cost management critical
Min. 8 years of demonstrably applicable work experience
